About Transistor

A transistor is a semiconductor element used in electronic circuits. It has an amplification action to amplify electrical signals and a switching action to control the flow of electricity. Transistors are used in many electronic devices. Applications that use the amplification effect include audio amplifiers and sensor detection circuits. Applications that utilize the switching action include logic circuits that make up integrated circuits and rectifier circuits for power supplies. The structure of a transistor is a combination of an n-type semiconductor and a p-type semiconductor. It is generally fabricated on a silicon (Si) substrate, but depending on the application, compound semiconductors such as SiGe, GaAs, SiC, and GaN may also be used.
