Processing and machine tools refer to equipment that processes materials using cutting tools. In this article, the act of cutting, polishing, etc., performed on materials is called processing, and the device that performs processing is called machine tool. There are various types of machine tools, depending on the difference in processing methods and cutting tools. Examples of familiar items include "electric drills" for drilling holes in wood and iron plates, and "electric screwdrivers" for fast tightening and loosening screws. For large machine tools, there are "drilling machines" that are used in the manufacturing industry, which are similar to larger electric drills, "machining centers" that perform drilling and surface grinding, and "grinders" that polish the surface of materials.
