What is a Sodium percarbonate (2Na₂CO₃·3H₂O₂)?
Sodium percarbonate (2Na₂CO₃·3H₂O₂) is a white crystalline powder composed of sodium carbonate and hydrogen peroxide. When dissolved in water, it releases sodium carbonate (Na₂CO₃) and hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂), providing powerful oxidizing and bleaching effects.
It is commonly used as an oxygen-based bleach in laundry detergents, dishwashing powders, and mold removers. Due to its chlorine-free nature, it is considered safer and more environmentally friendly compared to chlorine-based bleaches. It is also used in wastewater treatment and as an eco-friendly cleaning agent. However, it can still irritate the eyes and skin, so proper handling and protective gear are recommended.
