What is a Cyanuric Acid?

Cyanuric acid (C3H3N3O3) is an organic compound that contains nitrogen and oxygen. It appears as a white crystalline or powdery solid. Chemically, it consists of a triazine ring and is primarily used in water treatment and pool management. Cyanuric acid is best known as a stabilizer for chlorine systems used in pools and spas. Cyanuric acid binds with chlorine to prevent the evaporation of chlorine, allowing its disinfecting effect to last longer. This helps to reduce the consumption of chlorine and decreases the frequency of chlorine replenishment.
