What is a Sulfamic acid (H₃NSO₃)?

Sulfamic acid (H₃NSO₃) is a white, crystalline solid acid that is water-soluble and hydrolyzes into sulfuric acid and ammonia. It is known for being a stable, easy-to-handle acid that exhibits both inorganic and organic properties. Sulfamic acid is widely used in industry for descaling in boilers and cooling systems, metal surface treatment, paper and textile bleaching aids, pesticide intermediates, dye synthesis, and water treatment chemicals. It is also used as a cleaner and sanitizer in the food industry. While it is generally safer to handle than stronger acids like sulfuric acid, it can still cause irritation to the skin and eyes.
