What is a Nitroaniline (C₆H₆NO₂)?
Nitroaniline (C₆H₆NO₂) is a derivative of aniline, an aromatic compound with an amino group (-NH₂) attached to a benzene ring. Nitroaniline is formed when a nitro group (NO₂) is attached to the benzene ring at the para, ortho, or meta position relative to the amino group. This substitution results in various physical and chemical properties. Nitroaniline plays an important role as an intermediate in dye synthesis and in the production of pharmaceuticals. It is also used in the manufacture of explosives and for various chemical synthesis applications.
Nitroaniline is widely used in the dye industry, especially in the synthesis of azo dyes, and is also employed in the production of synthetic resins and pesticides.
