Zinc phenolsulfonate is the zinc salt of phenolsulfonic acid, which is derived by sulfonating phenol. It exists as a compound of the phenolsulfonate anion and zinc cation (Zn²⁺), typically appearing as a white to pale yellow crystalline powder that is water-soluble. This compound exhibits antimicrobial properties and is used in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics as a preservative, as well as in industrial products as a mold inhibitor.
