What is a Pentane?

Pentane (chemical formula: C5H12) is an organic compound classified as an alkane, consisting of five carbon atoms and twelve hydrogen atoms arranged in a straight or branched chain. Pentane is a colorless, odorless liquid that is commonly found in petroleum and natural gas. At room temperature, it remains a liquid, with a boiling point of 36.1°C and a melting point of -129.7°C.

There are three main isomers of pentane:

It is also utilized in liquefied gas production, contributing to energy supplies.
