What is a Morpholine?
Morpholine is an organic compound with the chemical formula C₄H₉NO, consisting of a six-membered ring containing both an oxygen atom and a nitrogen atom. It is a colorless liquid with a strong, amine-like odor. Morpholine is miscible with water and many organic solvents. Structurally, it exhibits characteristics of both ethers and secondary amines. It is widely used industrially as a corrosion inhibitor, vulcanization accelerator, solvent, and intermediate in pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. It is also found in boiler water treatment and rubber additives. Due to its irritating effect on skin and mucous membranes, proper handling precautions are required.
