What is a Silver nitrate (AgNO₃)?

Silver nitrate (AgNO₃) is a colorless, crystalline compound that is highly soluble in water. It is light-sensitive and decomposes upon exposure to light, producing metallic silver, so it is usually stored in dark containers. It is widely used in medicine for its antiseptic and antibacterial properties, such as in wound treatment and eye infection prevention.
