Stirrer / List of 11 manufacturers
What is a Stirrer?
A stir bar is a small magnetic rod used in magnetic stirrers to mix liquids. It is typically coated with PTFE (Teflon) or glass, making it highly chemical-resistant and widely used in chemical experiments, biological research, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
The stir bar rotates in sync with the rotating magnet in the base of the magnetic stirrer, creating a vortex that ensures uniform mixing. Stir bars come in various shapes, such as cylindrical, oval, cross, and triangular, each suited for different applications. For example, a bar-shaped stir bar works well in narrow containers, while a cross-shaped stir bar is more effective for high-viscosity liquids.
Stir bars can be used in sealed containers, making them ideal for mixing volatile solutions or in sterile environments. They also have low wear and long durability. To achieve optimal mixing efficiency, it is essential to select the appropriate stir bar based on the container size and liquid viscosity.
