What is a Stirrer?
A stirrer is one of the experimental instruments used to stir a liquid. Generally, a magnetic stirrer or a magnetic mixer is used and a rotating magnetic field is used to stir the liquid in order to rotate the stir bar (or stir bar) stationary in the liquid very quickly. A rotating magnetic field can be generated by either a set of rotating magnets or fixed electromagnets placed underneath a container of liquid. In chemistry and biology experiments, porcelain agitation may be used when other forms of agitation are difficult.
Application of Stirrer
Magnetic stirrers are often used in the fields of chemistry and biology. It does not require complicated sealing conditions and can be used in sealed containers and systems. It tends to be easier to use than a gear-driven electric stirrer because it can stir more efficiently than the simple rod-shaped magnet itself and has no moving external parts that break or wear out. Magnetic stir bars also work in glass containers commonly used for chemical reactions, as glass does not significantly affect the magnetic field. It is difficult to handle viscous liquids and thick suspensions. Also, for stirring large volumes or more viscous liquids, it is usually necessary to use stir bars of different shapes and sizes.
