What is a Luminous paint?
Luminescent paint is a paint whose main pigment is a substance that emits phosphorescence or fluorescence when stimulated by light, electron beam, α-ray, etc. It is also known as luminous paint because it emits light in the dark and at night. There are two types of luminescent paint: luminescent type and phosphorescent type. Luminous paint can emit light by itself even when there is no external stimulus such as light. On the other hand, with phosphorescent paint, the paint itself does not emit light because it eliminates stimuli such as external light. Luminescent paints were previously widely used in applications such as watch faces, but in recent years, instead of luminescent paints, phosphorescent paints have been used because radioactive substances have been used as the energy source for luminescence. Paint is being used preferentially.
Application of Luminous paint
Luminescent paint is used as a night sign that requires light in environments such as nights and dark rooms. A familiar use is the clock face. It is also used to display pointers, scales, characters, etc. for measuring instruments used in dark environments. In addition, it is widely used as a road sign and evacuation guidance material. Luminous paint is also used in advertisements, exhibitions at event venues, interior decoration, etc., and is used in various places as one of the methods for designing dark spaces. Luminescent paint is also often used in fishing gear, and is sometimes used to make some of the tools and gimmicks such as fishing floats emit light in night fishing.
