Lipid nanoparticles / List of 5 manufacturers
What is a Lipid nanoparticles?
These are particles whose main component is nano-sized lipids. Nucleic acid drugs and water-soluble drugs can be introduced into the central water-soluble part of pharmaceuticals, and fat-soluble drugs can be introduced into the hydrophobic part. It is used in drug delivery systems (DDS) that deliver drugs to target tissues by controlling the size of lipid nanoparticles and modifying the particle surface with antibodies. Drug development of nanogas bubbles, in which medical gas is confined inside lipid nanoparticles, is also underway.
Application of Lipid nanoparticles
A method using lipid nanoparticle formulations has been developed as one of the methods of delivering drugs to cancer. In recent years, as a type of vaccine for COVID-19, a drug designed by encapsulating mRNA, which is the basis of viral proteins, in lipid nanoparticles has also been developed.
