What is a Microfluidics?
Microfluidics refers to creating a fluid flow in a microchannel with a width of 1 micrometer to 1 millimeter. Due to the difference in the scale of microchannels, surface tension and viscosity are more dominant in microspaces than the effects of gravity and inertia, which are the general laws of fluid mechanics. Microfluidic channels are created using semiconductor microfabrication technology to take advantage of microspaces, reduce the amount of reagents used, and make reactions more efficient. It is used in various application fields by incorporating engineering technology such as miniaturization of microfluidic devices and peripheral equipment, reduction of reaction temperature energy, electrochemistry in micro space, integration of sensors, and automation.
