What is a Precision stage?

A precision stage is a stage that can be precisely moved in the X-axis and Y directions, or in the direction of rotation. The movable axis differs depending on the model, and there are various types of precision stages from 1 axis to 4 axes or more. A feed screw with a small pitch is used to move the stage, and the table can be moved on the order of micrometers using a micrometer or a motor with a reducer, so it is used for observing extremely small samples. Although the stage can be moved precisely, the range of motion that can move the stage is as small as a few centimeters, making it unsuitable for applications where the stage needs to be moved significantly.

Application of Precision stage

The precision stage is used when you want to accurately control the position of the sample because each axis direction such as the X-axis, Y-axis, Z-axis, and other three axes of rotation can be moved precisely and independently.
