What is a Balun?
Balan is a compound word spelled with Balun, taking the initials of Balanced-to-unbalanced. In other words, it is a device that alternately converts between a balanced signal (Balance) and an unbalanced signal (Unbalance). In addition to signal conversion, impedance conversion by a transformer may also be performed at the same time, and it is used for matching circuits formed on MMIC semiconductor chips such as antenna connection points and differential amplifiers for high frequencies.
