What is a Depth filter?
A depth filter is a type of filter that captures and removes the object to be filtered not on the surface of the filter but inside. The reason why it can be captured inside is that the pore size at the top of the filter is large, and the structure is designed so that the pore size becomes smaller as it approaches the bottom. On the other hand, filters that block on the surface are called screen filters and are widely used. The screen filter has the disadvantage that the material to be filtered accumulates on the surface, gradually clogging occurs, and the flux decreases. Depth filters, on the other hand, can reduce clogging and maintain high filtration rates.
