What is a Chip resistor?
A chip resistor, also called a surface mount resistor, is a rectangular parallelepiped resistor that has a metal film formed as a resistor on a small ceramic substrate. Chip components generally refer to all small surface-mounted passive components. Chip parts are made of capacitors, resistors, fuses, coils, transformers, etc., all of which are characterized by having fixed electrodes. In conventional resistors, flexible lead wires were used as electrodes to be inserted into holes in the printed circuit board, but chip resistors have fixed electrodes that are directly soldered to the surface of the printed circuit board.
