What is a flat spring?
A leaf spring is a type of spring made from thin sheets of metal. Unlike coil springs that are wound from wire, leaf springs are formed by bending or twisting thin metal plates. They are lightweight and compact, yet capable of producing significant force in a limited space. Leaf springs are often used to absorb vibrations or shocks and to maintain pressure. Common applications include automotive suspension systems, pressure switches in electronics, and mechanical parts in clocks.
Application of flat spring
✅ Automotive suspension systems
Used to support the vehicle's load and absorb shocks.
✅ Pressure switches
Operate to control devices when a certain pressure is reached.
✅ Clock mainsprings
Used in mechanical clocks to drive the timekeeping mechanism.
