What is a Mechanical valve?
A mechanical valve is a control valve that changes the flow of air operated by human power or contact with an object. In order to operate an actuator such as a pneumatic cylinder, it is necessary to freely switch the flow of compressed air. In the case of a single-acting cylinder, when moving forward, compressed air is supplied in the forward direction, and in the reverse direction, the compressed air is released to the atmosphere. A valve that controls the direction of air flow in this way is called a directional control valve. Directional control valves can be controlled by three methods: electrical, pneumatic, and human/mechanical contact. Solenoid valves are operated by electrical signals to open and close valves, and those operated by air pressure are called (air) pilot operated valves. Mechanical control valves are operated manually by stepping on them with the hand or foot, or by mechanical contact with an object, such as a limit switch. Such control valves that are operated by human power or mechanical contact are called mechanical valves because they are operated mechanically.
