What is a Throttle valve?
A throttle valve is a device used to control the fluid inside a pipe. They are attached to pipelines and ducts through which fluids pass, and adjust the flow of fluids by narrowing or widening the internal passages. By changing the opening of the throttle valve, it is possible to secure and control the required flow rate. This can improve process efficiency and fluid system stability. They also generally have a simple structure and are relatively easy to operate. There are various operating means for changing the opening, such as handles and electric actuators. By using these operating means, it is possible to easily control. However, since the throttle valve restricts the passage of fluid, pressure loss occurs in the fluid passing through it. The more the valve is closed, the higher the pressure loss, which often affects the efficiency of fluid transfer. Cavitation can also occur due to the localized pressure drop that occurs when a fast-flowing fluid passes through a throttle valve.
