What is a Silicon gasket?

A silicone gasket is a gasket made of silicone (a thermosetting or thermoplastic polymer). Gaskets are sealing materials that are installed between members in non-movable parts of pipes and equipment to maintain sealing properties such as airtightness, watertightness, and oiltightness. There are sheet gaskets that are molded according to the installation location, and liquid gaskets that are applied and solidified to provide airtightness and pressure resistance. Heat resistance and chemical resistance differ depending on the material. Silicone gaskets are resistant to high temperatures and chemicals and are characterized by high durability. Molded products are also on the market, but liquid gaskets are often referred to as silicone gaskets.
