What is a hardness tester?
A hardness tester is a device for quantitatively measuring the hardness of a substance. There are various types of hardness definitions such as Rockwell type, Vickers type, Brinell type, etc., according to the characteristics of the substance to be measured. It is necessary to measure with a testing machine that has a measuring method. Hardness testers are generally stationary, but there are also portable types that can be tested anywhere. Please note that depending on the test method, requirements such as the size and surface roughness of the test object (test piece), cutting and resin embedding may be required in advance.
Application of hardness tester
There are several types of hardness testers, each employing different methods:
1. Rockwell Hardness Tester: Measures hardness by applying a specific load to a sample and pressing an indenter (usually a steel ball or cone) into the material. The depth of the indentation is used to determine hardness.
2. Brinell Hardness Tester: Involves pressing a large-diameter steel ball into the sample under a set load. The hardness is calculated based on the diameter of the indentation left by the ball.
3. Vickers Hardness Tester: Utilizes a sharp diamond pyramid indenter to create an indentation on the sample. The hardness is determined by measuring the diagonal lengths of the indentation.
4. Shore Hardness Tester: Primarily used for measuring the hardness of rubber and plastics. It measures the depth of penetration of a spring-loaded indenter into the material.
These testers are widely used for assessing material properties and ensuring product quality and suitability in various applications.

Our company provides a wide range of testing equipment, including Brinell hardness testers, uniaxial (tensile and compression) testing machines, load cells (force gauges), Vickers and micro-Vickers hardness testers, Charpy impact testers, and extensometers (recorders). In the field of material testing machines, we manufacture, repair, and adjust machines for tensile, compression, bending, hardness, impact, fatigue, and abrasion friction testing, and we also handle JIS calibration and JCSS calibration. We support relocation installation, ancillary construction, inspections, and calibration procedures. For force gauges, we manufacture, repair, and adjust ring spring type force gauges, volumetric force gauges, and loop cells, and we also handle calibration procedures in their entirety. Additionally, we design and manufacture specialized equipment such as torsion fatigue testers, rotary bending fatigue testers, and horizontal uniaxial testers, as well as renewing amplifiers for uniaxial testing machines and strain calibrators.
We offer customization to meet our customers' needs and support their research and quality control with our high technical expertise and extensive experience.
