What is a Thermal shock tester?
A cold shock tester is a device that can perform a cold shock test to evaluate how resistant a product is to changes in the temperature of the surrounding environment. The thermal shock test is a test in which high-temperature and low-temperature environments are repeatedly created alternately in a short period of time on the test piece of the product, the effect of temperature changes on the test piece is observed, and whether there is a problem is evaluated. It is about. Since the material used for the product expands and contracts as the temperature changes, stress is generated due to the difference in properties in the parts made of different materials, and this is repeated, and fatigue accumulates inside. It may crack or break, even if the strength is weaker than expected, it may break, the joint may split, the screw may loosen, or the surface coating may come off. Therefore, we evaluate the performance and reliability of the product by checking in chronological order along with the amount of load given, such as where the load is applied and leads to damage due to expansion and contraction.
A thermal shock tester uses a medium such as gas or liquid to create a low-temperature or high-temperature environment in order to adjust the temperature environment inside the test chamber. To set this temperature environment, it is necessary to adjust the temperature, volume, speed, direction, etc. of the medium.
By changing the temperature inside the test chamber depending on the medium, it is possible to eliminate the need to move the test specimen and suppress the effects of vibration and contact on evaluation results. This makes it possible to perform accurate reliability evaluations that are only affected by the temperature environment.
The temperature range that can be set is generally wide, from approximately -80℃ to +300℃, allowing tests to be conducted assuming a temperature environment that suits the purpose.
Application of Thermal shock tester
Cold shock testers are used to perform cold shock tests to verify the reliability of products. Specifically, after it is on the market, it reproduces the occurrence of defects due to cracks and cracks in the soldered part, reliability evaluation by changing the material, and the state due to the difference in expansion and contraction rate of the joint part of dissimilar metals. It is used for confirmation and confirmation of distortion and cracking due to thermal deformation of resin materials.
