What is a Salt spray tester?
A salt spray test chamber is a device used to evaluate the corrosion resistance of metallic products or parts with anti-corrosion coatings. In the chamber, a saltwater solution (usually sodium chloride) is sprayed as a fine mist onto the test specimens, exposing them to the mist for a specific period. This simulates the corrosive environment found in outdoor or coastal areas. The test is commonly used for automotive parts, construction materials, home appliances, and other products. The test conditions and duration are defined by international standards such as JIS, ASTM, or ISO. It helps determine the extent of rust formation and the durability of products, ensuring their quality and longevity.
Application of Salt spray tester
1.Automotive parts – such as car body panels, bumpers, and undercarriage components to ensure they can withstand exposure to road salts and other corrosive elements.
2.Construction materials – including steel beams and fasteners that are used in coastal or harsh weather environments, where corrosion risks are high.
3.Home appliances – such as washing machines, refrigerators, and water heaters, to test their resistance to corrosion from moisture and humidity.
