What is a PTFE / Polytetrafluoroethylene?
PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is a type of fluoropolymer that exhibits outstanding heat resistance, chemical resistance, and low friction properties. It is most commonly recognized under the trademark "Teflon," which is often used as a coating material for cookware. PTFE can withstand a wide range of temperatures, from -200°C to +260°C. It is highly resistant to almost all acids, alkalis, and solvents, including strong acids and bases. Due to its extremely low coefficient of friction, PTFE is ideal for use in sliding components, gaskets, and seals. Additionally, it has excellent electrical insulation properties, making it widely used in electrical and electronic applications.
Application of PTFE / Polytetrafluoroethylene
1.Cookware coatings: PTFE is used to coat frying pans and pots, making them non-stick and easier to clean.
2.Mechanical components: PTFE is used in gears and bearings to reduce friction and wear.
3.Electrical insulation: PTFE is used in wires and cables as an insulating material due to its excellent electrical properties.
