What is a Server blade?

A server blade is a specialized form of server designed for efficient use of space and power. Unlike ordinary tower-type or rack-mount-type servers, server blades contain each server element in thin modules called "blades" and house these blades in a single enclosure (chassis). This design not only allows server blades to pack a large amount of computing power into a limited physical space, but also greatly improves power and cooling efficiency. These characteristics make it particularly suitable for use in data centers and large IT environments.
