What is a Power over ethernet?
Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a technology that allows simultaneous data communication and power delivery, typically over an Ethernet cable. As a result, it has become possible to realize both data communication and power supply with a single cable, instead of the conventional method of separately performing data communication and power supply, making it possible to simplify infrastructure equipment and reduce costs. It also increases the flexibility of installation, such as allowing network devices to be easily placed in locations far from the power supply equipment. PoE is used in various devices such as surveillance cameras, wireless LAN access points, and VoIP phones.
