What is a Contact sensor?

A contact sensor is a measuring device that measures the distance between the object to be measured and the measurement sensor by directly tracing it with a dedicated detection probe. Unlike the non-contact type sensor, the position from the sensor is actually measured by palpation, so it has the advantage of being able to measure the absolute distance, but it will cause considerable damage to the object to be measured. Since it is a contact type, the measurement points can be visually confirmed, so it is less likely that the data will be processed with clearly strange data, and it is also relatively inexpensive.

Application of Contact sensor

One of the advantages of contact measurement is that it is possible to measure large inclined surfaces that cannot receive reflected light, as in the case of measurement using a laser. Taking advantage of this, it is possible to measure the surface shape of a three-dimensional object to be measured.
