What is a Proximity sensor?
A proximity sensor is a sensor that turns contacts on and off when objects to be detected come close to each other without physical contact. Unlike mechanical switches, proximity sensors are not of the type that physically contacts objects to be detected and turns the contacts on and off. In addition, there are three main detection methods for proximity sensors: guidance method, capacitance method, and magnetic method. With this detection method, it is possible to detect without touching the object to be detected. Since the proximity sensor is a non-contact sensor, it can be used without worrying about damage or wear to the object to be detected.
Application of Proximity sensor
Proximity sensors are used to detect the presence or absence of workpieces and positioning at various production sites. The reason for this is that proximity sensors are generally non-contact and have a relatively short detection distance compared to metal and non-metal individual detection. On the other hand, capacitive proximity sensors are also used in situations such as the amount in a tank that stores liquids and powders and the fluid that is sprayed out. This is because capacitive proximity sensors can detect liquids and powders as well as metals and non-metals, unlike individuals that are predominantly detected by inductive proximity sensors and magnetic proximity sensors.
