What is a Geomagnetic sensor?
A geomagnetic sensor is a sensor for detecting the magnetism (geomagnetism) of the earth. Sometimes called an electronic compass.
The geomagnetic sensor is divided into a 2-axis type that can detect the XY axis and a 3-axis type that can detect the XYZ axis. There is no problem with the 2-axis type when using it on flat ground, but when using it on slopes, etc., accurate geomagnetism cannot be detected unless it is a 3-axis type.
Application of Geomagnetic sensor
Geomagnetic sensors are commonly used to detect directions. In addition to being installed as an electronic compass on mountain climbing GPS terminals, it is also installed on smartphones and car navigation systems to measure the orientation of terminals on maps. The two-axis type that detects the XY axis is installed in automobiles, etc., but it is necessary to install the three-axis type that can detect XYZ when three-dimensional movement such as pitch and yaw is possible in aircraft.
