Absolute encoder / List of 7 manufacturers
What is a Absolute encoder?
An absolute encoder is an encoder that can detect the absolute angle from the origin. This section describes general optical encoders. Unlike incremental encoders, which have slits in a repeating pattern, absolute encoders send specific signals depending on the angle, so the current angle can be known without previous angle information.
Application of Absolute encoder
The use of absolute encoders is rapidly expanding in the field of robotics because they can detect the angle of the rotary shaft with high reliability by detecting the absolute angle. In particular, telesurgery robots, which require a large amount of accurate position information for articulated arms, use absolute encoders for most of the joints.
