What is a Force sensor?
A force sensor is a device used to measure the force (load) applied to an object. Typically, force sensors are a type of pressure sensor, and when a force is applied, they generate an electrical signal corresponding to that force. This signal can then be used to calculate the magnitude of the force. Force sensors are used in various fields, including industrial machinery, robotics, and medical devices. They are especially useful in applications where precise force measurement is required, such as in manufacturing, to check the pressure on parts or adjust the force during assembly.
Application of Force sensor
✅ Automotive Crash Testing
Force sensors are used to measure the force applied to the vehicle body during crash tests. This helps assess the vehicle’s crash absorption performance and ensure it meets safety standards.
✅ Robotics
In robotics, force sensors are used to measure the force or pressure when a robot lifts objects. This ensures the robot handles objects with appropriate force without damaging them.
✅ Medical Devices
In surgical instruments and diagnostic equipment, force sensors are used to measure the pressure applied during operation. This helps prevent excess or insufficient force, enhancing safety for the patient.
✅ Manufacturing Inspection
In assembly lines, force sensors are used to measure the force applied during assembly. This helps ensure parts are assembled with the correct torque or pressure.
