What is a Distance sensor?

A distance sensor is a sensor for measuring distance. Recently, it is used for automatic driving of automobiles and industrial machines, and for preventing collisions with objects detected by advanced safety systems. Distance sensors include lidar, millimeter wave, ultrasonic, and stereo camera methods, and multiple sensors are sometimes used in combination depending on the application. Many sensors utilize a sensor mechanism called TOF (Time of Flight). It emits a signal for each method and measures the distance from the time it receives the signal reflected from the object.
