What is a Touch probe?

A touch probe is a contact-type sensor for measuring the dimensions of machine tool tools and workpieces with high accuracy. Attached to the spindle or turret of an NC machine tool, by bringing a detector called a stylus into contact with an object, the coordinate values measured with micron-level accuracy are fed back to the NC. When incorporating it into the machining program, set it to issue an error when the numerical value at the time of measurement exceeds the allowable range. This makes it possible to instantly identify machining defects.
