What is a Angular velocity sensor?
A gyroscope (angular velocity sensor) is a sensor used to measure the rotational motion of an object. It detects the angular velocity (rate of rotation) when an object is rotating and outputs it as either a digital or analog signal. Gyroscopes are often incorporated into inertial measurement units (IMUs), where they are used in combination with accelerometers and magnetometers to measure the three-dimensional orientation and movement of an object. They are widely used in fields such as aerospace, automotive, and robotics, where motion is a critical factor.
Application of Angular velocity sensor
✅ Aircraft Attitude Control
In aircraft, gyroscopes are used to monitor the aircraft's attitude (tilt) in real-time and provide data necessary for maintaining proper control, ensuring stable flight.
✅ Electronic Stability Control (ESC) in Vehicles
In automobiles, gyroscopes monitor tire rotation and vehicle rotation, helping to prevent slippage or skidding by adjusting brake or engine output in electronic stability control (ESC) systems.
✅ Robot Positioning and Motion Control
Robots use gyroscopes to measure their rotational motion, allowing for precise positioning and motion control. This ensures smooth and accurate movement in robotics.
✅ Smartphone Screen Rotation
Gyroscopes are integrated into smartphones to detect the orientation of the device and automatically adjust the screen display when the user rotates the device.
