What is a Current sense amplifier?
A current sense amplifier is an electronic circuit designed to measure the current flowing through a circuit. It works by amplifying the small voltage drop that occurs across a sensing resistor (called a shunt resistor) due to the current. The amplified voltage is then used to determine the current in the circuit. Current sense amplifiers are widely used in applications such as motor control, power management, battery monitoring, and overcurrent protection.
Features:
・High accuracy: Detects and amplifies very small voltage changes with high precision.
・Low drift: Minimizes drift caused by temperature changes and operating conditions.
・Low power consumption: Operates efficiently with minimal power usage.
Application of Current sense amplifier
✅Motor control
Monitors the current in motors to detect overloading.
✅Power management
Used to monitor current for optimizing charging and discharging of batteries.
✅Overcurrent protection
Used to trigger protective mechanisms when excessive current flows through a circuit.
