What is a MEMS microphone?

A MEMS microphone is a microphone whose voice conversion part is composed of MEMS components. It has a covered microphone structure with a MEMS element mounted on a printed circuit board. MEMS is an abbreviation that takes the initials of "Micro Electronics Mechanical System", and the Japanese translation is "Micro Electro Mechanical System". When applied to microphones, MEMS plays the role of a transducer that converts sound waves into electrical signals by creating a diaphragm on a Si substrate using thin-film microfabrication technology. With MEMS elements, ICs can be integrated on the same substrate, so there are many cases where micromechanical parts and electronic circuits are integrated on the substrate.
