What is a Brake lining?
Brake lining is a crucial component in the braking systems of vehicles and industrial machinery, serving as the friction material that allows deceleration and stopping. It is attached to the surface of brake pads or brake shoes, and when it comes into contact with the brake disc or drum, it creates friction, enabling the vehicle or machine to slow down or stop. To withstand the heat and wear generated by this friction, brake linings are made from high-temperature-resistant and wear-resistant materials. Historically, asbestos was used as the material for brake linings, but due to health and environmental concerns, non-asbestos organic materials, ceramics, and metal fibers are now commonly used. Different types of brake linings are chosen based on the vehicle type and its intended use, with varying levels of performance and durability.
Brake linings wear down over time, so regular inspection and replacement are essential. As the lining wears out, braking efficiency decreases, making proper maintenance vital for safe operation.
Application of Brake lining
1.Automotive Repair Shops: During routine inspections, mechanics check the wear of brake linings and replace them as needed to ensure safe driving.
2.Industrial Machinery: In large press machines at factories, brake linings play a crucial role in stopping the machine's movement, enhancing operational safety.
3.Bus Companies: For long-distance operations of large vehicles, regular inspection and replacement of brake linings are essential for ensuring passenger safety.
