What is a PWM / Pulse Width Modulation?
PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) is a technique used to control the average power of a signal by adjusting the ratio of the "on" and "off" durations. This technique is widely used in various electronic devices such as motor speed control, LED brightness adjustment, and audio volume control. A PWM signal is a square wave that repeats at a constant frequency, where the duration of the "on" time (duty cycle) is varied to adjust the average power output. The higher the duty cycle, the greater the average power, and the lower the duty cycle, the smaller the average power. PWM allows for efficient power control, minimizing energy loss, and plays a crucial role in the operation of motors and power supplies. Its high efficiency and precision make it an essential technology in many industrial and consumer applications.
Application of PWM / Pulse Width Modulation
1.Motor control: PWM is used to efficiently control the rotation speed of motors.
2.LED brightness adjustment: PWM is used to adjust the brightness of LEDs.
3.Volume control: PWM technology is also used in adjusting the volume in audio equipment.
