What is a Linear motor?

A linear motor is an electric motor with linear motion. Linear motors produce linear motion, whereas general motors produce rotary motion. It is a driving device that generates propulsion using the attraction/repulsion of magnets or the Lorentz force. A combination of various parts is required to drive in a linear direction using a conventional motor, but linear motors can facilitate linear motion without using complicated mechanisms.
