What is a Screw feeder?
A screw feeder is a device that discharges powder and granules from a container and supplies them at a desired pace. For liquids, the flow rate can be easily controlled by simply opening and closing the valve, but for powders and granules, poor discharge and ejection occur due to friction, so a mechanical transport means = feeder is required. In addition to screw feeders, there are various types of feeders such as electromagnetic feeders and table feeders, which are used according to the required performance such as the particle size and strength of the powder and granules to be supplied, the amount of processing, and the quantitative supply. The screw feeder is positioned as a feeder with a relatively high quantitative supply.
Application of Screw feeder
The screw feeder is generally installed at the bottom of an inverted conical powder storage container called a hopper, and the powder is pushed out and discharged by the rotation of the screw. Since it is pushed with a screw, it can be transported even if it is tilted upward to some extent. The feature is that the supply amount can be adjusted accurately by the rotation speed of the screw, and it is often used for quantitative supply of raw materials. In addition, since the inside of the screw and the hopper in the previous stage are sealed by the powder and granules, it is also characterized by being able to transport between processes with a pressure difference such as atmospheric pressure and vacuum. A screw feeder with high sealing performance is used for air transportation in which powder is carried by the air flow in the pipe.
