What is a Field bus?
Fieldbus is a communication network protocol used in industrial automation systems to connect field devices such as sensors and actuators with control systems via digital communication. Compared to traditional analog signals or point-to-point wiring, fieldbus significantly reduces wiring complexity while improving signal quality and data transmission capacity.
Prominent fieldbus standards include PROFIBUS, Modbus, DeviceNet, and EtherCAT, each offering unique features such as varying communication speeds, data capacity, and connection distances to meet different system requirements.
Fieldbus enables efficient data collection from field devices and real-time integration with control systems. This improves factory productivity, reduces operating costs, and accelerates troubleshooting. Additionally, its capability to integrate multiple devices into a single network simplifies system design and maintenance.
Application of Field bus
✅Assembly Line Control
Fieldbus connects sensors and robots installed at various assembly stages via a network, enabling real-time data transmission and efficient line management.
✅Process Control Systems
In chemical plants or food factories, fieldbus links temperature sensors and flow meters to the central control system, allowing real-time process monitoring and optimal control.
✅AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) Management
Fieldbus is used to monitor and control the movement of AGVs in real-time, ensuring efficient logistics management within factories.
✅Energy Management Systems
To monitor energy consumption, devices like power meters and temperature sensors are connected via fieldbus, helping optimize energy usage.
