What is a LCR meter?
An LCR meter is a device for measuring impedance, which indicates the difficulty of alternating current flow. Another indicator of the difficulty of current flow is electrical resistance, which is a concept in DC circuits. It is common in that it is expressed by the ratio of current and voltage, but the impedance in the AC circuit extends this to complex space and expresses it. Since the basic concept is the same as electrical resistance, Ohm's law in DC circuits holds true for impedance as well.
Application of LCR meter
It is used to determine the physical quantity of electronic components in the development and testing of electronic devices. In recent years, there is a demand to measure impedance not only in these industrial fields but also in the medical field, so it may be used to measure body fat percentage, water content, muscle mass, etc. in the body. This information can be obtained by regarding the living body as a circuit consisting of cells and measuring the difficulty of current flow in the intracellular fluid and extracellular fluid. Such an approach has the advantage of being low cost and easy to introduce because it does not require large-scale equipment such as CT and NMR.
