What is a Illuminometer?
An illuminometer is a machine that measures the brightness of a place. It is necessary to have "appropriate illumination" in our daily life, school, workplace, and other environments where we work. Illuminance is expressed in units called LUX, and the illuminance standard is set by the Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) in order to carry out work efficiently and safely and to protect the health of the workers. There are two types of illuminometers: a photovoltaic cell type that does not require a power supply and a phototube type that can measure even low illuminance.
Application of Illuminometer
Lighting equipment for places where people work, such as schools, factories and offices, is stipulated by the "School Environmental Hygiene Standards", "Occupational Safety and Health Regulations" and "Office Hygiene Standards Regulations". Therefore, it is mainly used to measure whether the illuminance meets the standard in these environments. In recent years, the "Building Energy Conservation Law" requires energy conservation in buildings, and it is also used to measure whether or not it meets the standards. It is also used for the purpose of investigating whether the brightness of the place is appropriate as an experimental environment based on past evidence in scientific experiments using living things.
