What is a Ultrasonic flow meter?
The ultrasonic flowmeter is one of the flowmeters, and it can measure without contact because it uses acoustic vibration by ultrasonic waves. There are two types of ultrasonic flowmeters: Doppler type and transit time (time difference) type. Since there are no obstacles in the tube, the ultrasonic flowmeter has features such as zero pressure loss, a simple structure that does not easily break down, a wide measurable range, is not affected by the density and viscosity of the fluid, and has high accuracy. The ultrasonic flowmeter is a clamp-on device that can be mounted on the outside of the pipe to measure corroded fluid without corroding the sensor.
Application of Ultrasonic flow meter
Ultrasonic flow meters are used to control fluid flow rates in water treatment facilities and factories. In principle, the propagation time difference method is used for measuring high-purity fluids, such as controlling the flow rate of chemicals in semiconductor factories, because the sensor cannot receive ultrasonic waves unless it is a clean fluid that is not mixed with solids or bubbles. On the other hand, the Doppler method is used for sludge and wastewater, which are suspended fluids, because the flow rate is measured by reflecting ultrasonic waves on solid substances and bubbles in the fluid and analyzing the frequency shift due to the reflection.
