What is a Rubber hardness tester?
A rubber hardness tester is a device that measures the hardness of rubber, and a device called a durometer is mainly used. This device measures the rubber hardness by measuring the depth at which the needle is pushed in when the needle is pressed against the sample by the force of a spring and deformed. Select from three types of durometers, type A, type D, and type E, where the shape of the needle tip differs depending on the hardness of the rubber to be measured. Another measurement method is the push-in method. In this method, the needle is pressed against the sample by the force of a spring, and the hardness is calculated from the pressed force and the area of the dent.
Application of Rubber hardness tester
This section describes the durometer that is mainly used for measuring rubber hardness. There are type A durometer, type D durometer, and type E durometer depending on the hardness of the rubber, and each device has a different needle tip shape and spring load. Therefore, it is necessary to select an appropriate device depending on the hardness of the measured object. As an example, the hardness of rubber products is shown below. Eraser: 40-50, car tires: 70, baseball hardballs: 90
