What is a Permeability meter?
A fluorometer is a device for measuring the transparency of water. Place the sample in a cylindrical glass container with a mark (mark plate) on the bottom, and measure the transparency by the amount of water when the sign plate is visible. If the water is highly transparent, you can see the sign board at the bottom even if the amount of water is large, but you cannot see the sign board unless the sample is so small that it is turbid. Drain the amount of water from the container until you can see the sign board, and read the amount of water from the scale of the container when the sign board is clearly visible.
Application of Permeability meter
Transparency meters are primarily used to measure the transparency of colored water. It measures sewage, rainwater, pools, river water, lake water, seawater, etc. It is used to determine if factory effluent meets standards and to determine the amount of suspended solids in water. In the case of a sample with a large amount of suspended solids, the suspended solids may settle to the bottom and cover the mark on the bottom, which interferes with the measurement, so care must be taken. In addition, the transparency changes depending on the brightness of the surroundings at the time of measurement. As a general rule, it is supposed to be measured by daytime light.
