What is a Electromagnetic film thickness gauge?
An electromagnetic film thickness meter is a device that measures the thickness of a thin film using the principle of electromagnetic induction. The thickness can be measured by bringing the coil close to the measurement part and measuring the minute induced electromotive force. It measures thin films and coating thickness that cannot be measured with calipers. There are other types of film thickness meters such as eddy current type, ultrasonic type, and reflection spectroscopic type, which can be selected according to the measurement target. The electromagnetic film thickness meter can measure the thickness instantly and accurately, but it has the disadvantage that it cannot be measured well if the thin film is magnetized.
Application of Electromagnetic film thickness gauge
Electromagnetic film thickness meters are used to measure various thin films. For example, food films and protective films for precision equipment. When it becomes as thin as a few micros or a few nanometers, it becomes difficult to visually inspect it with a ruler or caliper. Therefore, use an electromagnetic film thickness meter to check if it is thick enough. It is also used to check the thickness of paints and coatings. If it is too thin, it will not function, but if it is too thick, it will be a waste of raw materials. Confirmation of the thickness is indispensable to form an appropriate thin film.
