What is a Conductivity meter?
A conductivity meter is a device that measures the electrical conductivity of an aqueous solution. The electric conductivity is a value that indicates the ease of current flow in water, and the value increases as the ion concentration in water increases. A voltage is applied to the two electrodes attached to the conductivity meter, and the electrical conductivity is measured from the current and resistance at that time. There are two types of conductivity meters: desktop devices and portable devices. Since measurement using a conductivity meter is simple, portable conductivity meters are often used even in the field. The conductivity meter needs to be calibrated with a potassium chloride standard solution before use.
Application of Conductivity meter
The measurement range of the conductivity meter is wide and can be used with various samples. The conductivity meter has a wide measurement range. Therefore, it is conductive in various aqueous solutions, for example, from the measurement of samples with extremely few ionic substances such as ion-exchanged water and pure water and low electrical conductivity to the measurement of samples containing a large amount of ionic substances such as seawater. The rate meter is used. In addition, conductivity meters are also used for analysis of environmental water such as river water, lakes, and seawater, analysis of wastewater generated in the processes of semiconductors, chemicals, and pharmaceutical manufacturers, and water quality control. It may also be used in the food industry for simple salinity analysis.
